Hilarious JibJab Video
This expertly produced video is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The part with Obama prancing through the woods with rainbows and cute critters is priceless. Enjoy.

The following is a letter I received from a very nice Obama supporter in Norway along with my response.
Good luck to you and Barack Obama, in the forthcoming election. I hope he crushes McCain. We need a new and more secure US. You don’t have to do everything in your power to piss the international community off. Especially the Muslims. We have to respect and accept each other. That is the right way to a more peaceful world.
Many Muslims defend the terrorism saying that this is our way of reacting to the way the west behaves against us. Well well. The Muslims can’t blame the western world for wars and acts of terror in the Middle East. These conflicts are a good example of the Muslim world not respecting and accepting others to believe in other Gods than Allah, and the prophet Muhammad.
As most of the people in the world, in one way or another, believe, this is a big fight we have to take for getting the world more peaceful. I know that most of the believing people all over the world do respect others, but it is the most extreme and radical people in these societies that makes war and terrorism. We have to try reaching in to these people. But of course. Reaching in to dangerous people, especially people with power, can be very difficult.
Most people in the world knew the real reason for the war. The oil. Bush’s staff gave the poor, stupid man false information, so that he, in his sick world, meant that the only solution was war. How can a man like that be president in one of the world’s biggest countries. That scares me. I understand the reaction after a terrorist action like 9/11. But his way is just the same as the Muslims. Fight disagreements with weapon and terrorism.
In my eyes this man is no better than most terrorist leaders of Al-Qaida and other organization like that. Shame on you George Bush. I hope you are proud of what you have achieved in your period as a president. I am not especially impressed. I don’t know, but I guess that many people around the world are looking forward to the end of President Bush’s period as president. Most people I have spoken to refer to Mr Bush as a greater danger of war than anybody else. He seems very loose on the trigger.

Wow, don’t get me started on religion and politics. Okay, too late.
The problem in the middle east, and really the center of all the conflicts there is not just oil, but Israel and the Palestinians and how to resolve the unresolvable. Religious fervor and total blind commitment to ideologies and belief that one parcel of land is somehow holier than another is gonna keep the middle east perpetually in turmoil and unstable for years to come. It’s a mess and it’s all thanks to religion and nationalism. Oil is simply the reason we care at all about the middle east in the first place and one of the reasons we defend Israel so strongly and with a blind eye – because they serve as a gateway to our national interests.
In my opinion, religion clouds the mind and distorts common sense. It leads people to fight wars and kill each other in the name of God because they’ve been taught that to do so is a holy or noble thing, and if they strap some explosives around their chest and kill lots of “infidels” they’ll go to heaven and meet a bunch of virgins. Of course what they don’t tell them is that the other virgins are suckers just like them.
I don’t know what it’s gonna take to wake people up but you can’t do it through violence because winning a “war on terror”, especially when the terrorists are a bunch of religious nuts, is like trying to win a war on hate - doesn’t really work too well, although it does help keep fear-mongers like Bush and others in power. I put up my anti-bush website, www.burnbush2004.com, during the 2004 campaign never expecting in a million years that he’d be re-elected, but that just shows the power of bullsh*t and how easily people are fooled by nationalistic, drum-beating rhetoric, whether it’s on this side of the ocean or in the middle east or nazi Germany or anywhere.
In regards to this campaign and Obama, I’m definitely not under any delusion that he’s a messiah come to cure the world’s problems. He’s a politician, and like most politicians he’ll say and do what he needs to be elected. But unlike Bush or McCain, I get inspired when he talks, and that I think is the most important element that this country and the world needs. A man who can get others to listen and even change their views through the power of words and ideas versus guns and bombs. That doesn’t mean you lower your guard or give in to those who won’t listen, but that you at least talk. The zealots who hate and believe in the violent approach are products of their teachings, and when you have a saber-rattling douchebag like Bush (and to a lesser degree McCain) in the white house then their rationale for violence only increases. With someone like Obama who speaks rationally and with wisdom, there’s a better chance of getting through to people and presenting them with a new perspective. Doesn’t always work of course but I think if we can balance negotiation with the appropriate response to military aggression then it has a better chance of working.
Ah, but there I go being naive and idealistic again.
